To start, open the file you want to work on in Photoshop Elements.
The file could be a photo that you have downloaded from a Web page or it could be a photo you have taken yourself. You can import a single image, a collection of images, or a folder full of images. Many of the most important aspects of the image can be found in the top-left corner of the image window (refer to Figure 9-1). In that area, you can select your file type and, if it is a group of images, where you want to place the images in the Comp window that you see when you first open a file (refer to Figure 9-1). Photoshop Elements will try to automatically guess the file type of the image, which is usually the best one to use. To find out more about file types, see the section “Working with File Types,” later in this chapter.

Edit images, create new high-quality images and use other special features of Photoshop Elements
1. Launch Adobe Photoshop Elements from your desktop.
2. If the Welcome Screen appears, click on the Home tab.
3. Click on the small magnifying glass icon to access your desktop.
4. Click on the Files tab to select a folder or file you want to open.
5. Open the image you want to work on.
6. Click on the Select button.
7. A cursor will appear in your image, move on your image until you find the area you want to crop or adjust. To remove an area, click on the area where you want to remove.

9. To move an area to another location, click on the arrow button of the selection you want to move.
10. A dialog box will appear displaying the new position of the moved area. Press Enter to confirm the move.

13. To resize an image, type any of the numbers from 50% to 100% into the lower left box.
14. To crop an image, type any of the numbers into the lower right box.
15. Highlight the area you want to move by clicking on it.
16. To move an area to another location, click on the arrow button of the selection you want to move.
17. A dialog box will appear displaying the new position of the moved area. Press Enter to confirm the move.

19. To change the hue, saturation or lightness of an image, click on the Hue/Saturation/Lightness menu on the toolbar.

Another thing I noticed with yoga is something I noticed with Bali and Indonesia in general – people’s eyes are absolutely gorgeous. They are a large, deep green, with light brown frames and the most incredible irises!
Another exciting part of my week was discovering my first Indonesia Yoga Studio! It is called Yoga Raya (“Rainbow Yoga”). If you have not been to an Indonesia Yoga Class before, it is a whole world of new yoga moves, philosophies, and music in a tropical rainforest!
Yoga is highly popular in Bali, and many of the yoga schools are based on the Ashtanga school of yoga. Ashtanga is a well-known series of yoga classes, and many of the yoga studios in Bali are based on this sequence of yoga poses. However, the Ashtanga practice has only ten asanas (poses) and three pranayamas (breathing exercises). Ashtanga is quick, but many students prefer more of a slower practice.
I had the opportunity to visit Rainfall Yoga Studio in Ubud, and received a wonderful introduction to the studio and the philosophy of Bali yoga. Rainfall Yoga Studio is a studio that specialises in slow, gentle yoga. The studio is located in the centre of Ubud, with amazing views of Ubud’s beautiful courtyards.
The yoga classes are practiced on the floor, with a mat and a blanket for support. There is a slight tropical music and sometimes gentle rain!
I decided to try a yoga class at Rainfall Yoga Studio to see how I felt afterwards. While I am no yoga expert, I have practiced yoga in the past, and I was interested in seeing how I would like it. To my surprise, I really enjoyed the class. It was perfect for me because it was slow and peaceful, with a slight tropical rain as background music.
The yoga class covers all the basics, such as the sun salutations (surya namaskara), pranayama and meditation. There is a focus on calm, peaceful poses. The poses are introduced slowly so you can move and adjust easily.
After the class, I had a rest on the mat, sitting in meditation. I closed my eyes and absorbed the energy from the room. I found the class the perfect balance of calm and energising.
