Postmaster General Jeremy Mashaba says this was done to make it easy for South Africans to comply with the VAT registration. “The 14.5 million SARS stamps will be available for sale in the next week, but will be made available to the public from mid-April and are meant to be sold in the Post Office,” says Mashaba.
“We encourage all taxpayers to register their businesses and follow the VAT registration rules. Additionally, the stamps will be availed at all Post Offices and retailer agents across the country, and these stamps will be available for all transactions.”
Sapo says that it continues to advise taxpayers to register their businesses on a timely basis, and to pay any outstanding tax liabilities.
Owners of the new stamps are now encouraged to use the tax stamp to produce a receipt for their VAT registration, which they can easily do at any Post Office or retailer agent.
The VAT stamps are the first VAT stamps to bear the South African coat of arms and state “In God We Trust” and can be used to make a stamp receipt.
“A significant number of SARS stamps have been ordered over the past few years, but the demand is greater than our production capacity can accommodate. As a result, the new stamps will be printed for use during the period of VAT registration,” says SAPS finance spokesperson Frank Chingane.
Chingane says that the new stamps reflect the VAT registration system and will be available for sale in the next week.
An additional 15 000 000 stamps are expected to be printed at the end of April.

Diltiazem hydrochloride (DIL), a calcium channel antagonist, is a well-known drug for treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The drug is efficiently delivered through the oral route, and its release has been investigated in previous works. For the development of a new formulation with potential application as a medicine to be taken before meals, the in situ degradation of DIL in the delivery system has to be checked and thus changes in the drug’s physicochemical properties should be monitored. This paper reports the first part of a new investigation on DIL’s in situ degradation in an established matrix tablet designed for delayed release. Time-dependent infrared spectra were recorded in the range 400-1600 cm-1. In this region, four bands were identified: three absorptions from the N-H vibrations of DIL and one hydrogen bonding band. Infrared spectra of the product were analyzed by applying Principal Component Analysis and Harshaw algorithms on different batches. The results showed that the first step in the degradation of DIL in the matrix tablet is the hydrolytic cleavage of the triazole N-N bond. The second stage was a process called ‘isomerization’ that occurred independently from the rest of the in situ degradation processes. The hydrolytic cleavage of the N-N bond and the isomerization process showed significant inter-batch differences among the investigated batches. These results are very promising regarding the suggested potential application of the formulation as a medicine to be taken before meals.-based inhibitor of YAP, or treatment with CyclinD1-siRNA, to inhibit cyclin D1 expression, and knockdown of LOXL2 to inhibit LOXL2 expression.
