Social media has garnered a lot of users during its time on the internet. Mobile phones these days are not even mainly used for calling or texting anymore, as many people mostly utilize them for Facebook or Instagram.
Tik Tok is a fairly new app on the market, that allows people to share video content. However, there is now a third-party PC client called 6 Tok.
The difference between mobile and PC
While the program is based on the phone app, they are not identical. On the PC version, I could not find any way of logging in to it.
A second difference that I noticed pretty much straight away is that you cannot upload your own videos. I am not sure if this is due to the fact that you cannot actually log in or the developer simply didn't think of this as a viable feature for the PC version.
A curious fact is that you can like the videos, which is a bit odd given that you can't do it from the browser version of Tik Tok either. Or maybe it just lets you click it without actually doing anything.
Some minus points, as well
A negative aspect that I discovered while playing around with it is about the comments. Or better yet, the lack thereof. Even though the program shows that the video has a number of comments posted, when you click on them it doesn't show any of them. Not only that, but you are not allowed to post your own.
Should you get it?
Personally, I do not like nor use Tik Tok, so I would not be the first person to recommend this program. But if I am to be impartial, I still would use the mobile version rather than this one, mainly because that one has more features.
But we will try to be fair and compare it to its real counterpart, the browser version of Tik Tok. On that platform, you can at least upload your own content and share videos, but you still cannot like them or post comments. It doesn't even let you search for the users you want to see.
However, due to the browser version being an official Tik Tok service, I would still go with that one.

If you want to create videos, photos and animated GIFs you can use it. The program allows you to add audio and you can also share it on various social networks. It is also a very user-friendly program. All you have to do is to use your mouse and click on the buttons. It also has a user-friendly, easy-to-use interface.
The only negatives that I can see is that you can’t add filters, unlike the mobile app.
It is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and macOS.

I’ve downloaded, installed and have been using it for a few days now.
I must say that I like this software and I like it very much. It can be used, but the interface is not optimal for it to be “useful” when sharing a video. It is very basic.
I still, as before, use a software that is more user-friendly, such as Ephidera, to share videos with friends.
However, this software is quite neat and worth trying out.

The official website made a post about the newest version of the app, 7.0.
One of the new features you can use is the ability to record while streaming a live video from anywhere.
The post also gave away the two notable features you can find in this version. It is now much easier to start the process of editing and setting an alternative theme.
In the picture below, you can see that after the custom theme is activated, there is no longer the need to scroll through all the different colors and choices. Instead, you can simply look for the version that looks like the one you want.
One other interesting feature is the ability to add audio. While the game isn’t much of a video game, it still gives you that extra something that users may find useful.
How to install:
How to fix a fullscreen glitch.
Unfortunately, it seems that there is a glitch that occurs when you press your volume icon to turn off the Wi-Fi. That means that when you close the program, it will still show the previous settings for that.
What you need to do is go to tik tok’s settings on the browser version. When the app is running, tap your gear button on the top-right and select Settings.
Look for the line where it says Screen.
Under this line, you need to find the Full screen section, and in the “Launch in full screen mode” section, remove the option that says Yes.
Another tip would be to first check whether or not your router is set up to allow you to set up a guest network. If you use it a lot, you may want to sign up and access it from the guest network. If you don’t use it often, or if it is not yet set up for that, you can safely leave the option unchecked.
