There are two versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements available: Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 ($69.99/£65.99) for Windows and macOS (and various mobile devices) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 14 + ($99.99/£94.99) for Windows only. Cancelling a Task that has been created in a thread
I have a problem with cancelling a task when it’s created inside a thread. I have the following scenario:
I have a Java class that has a method that runs a task. The task should be run in a background thread (because the task can take a long time). The task is run by a ThreadPoolExecutor like this:

And DoSomething() is executed by:

When I try to cancel the task, it cannot be cancelled, but when I try to cancel it in DoSomething(), it works, so I think the problem is the thread has not finished, but somehow canceled by the GC.
What I tried so far:
t.setUncancellable() (works for cancel in run()),
t.setUncancelled() (works for cancel in task)
t.setCancellableFuture() (works for cancel in task)
t.setCancelled() (returns false after run() has been called, no matter if I cancel or not)
I also tried to put a System.gc() after the executor.execute() call, but no effect.
I know that there are also executor.shutdown() but I don’t want to shutdown the server, it should only shutdown if
