Loading a sample image into Photoshop
You can make your first image in Photoshop by starting with a photo in the Adobe Stock portal or the web or by importing a jpg or tif image from a folder or disk.

What do we know about the ‘Silverstone Grave’?
A little more than 100 years after it was discovered in a Forest of Dean field, historians have a clearer understanding of the ‘Silverstone Grave’.
The story of the ‘Silverstone Grave’ in the Forest of Dean began on 24th October 1911 when three women, who were digging on the edge of a field in the parish of Silverstone, found a burial pit containing human remains. As they uncovered the grave, they found an ornate gold necklace, a sheet of gold, a copper circlet and two copper buttons with curious headdresses on them.
The headdresses looked similar to those worn by the Roman gods Jupiter and Mercury and were thought to be of a semi-precious nature, possibly from bronze. The ring had a peculiar bend in it, which also led archaeologists to believe it had been made by a jeweller, and was not made of steel.
Amongst the items found was a metal plate which featured the image of a cross on one side and a star on the other. The site was believed to be in Roman times and the archaeologists at the time deemed it to be most likely a pagan burial. The archaeologists found no evidence that the grave belonged to a man who had been burnt in a fire and hence this could not be verified, but there was no evidence of it being a Christian grave either.
On their way home, the women stumbled upon the skeleton of a child who was buried in a box-like metal object. The coffin was deep and had a curved, removable lid which could easily be pulled off for access to the child. The child’s remains were not burnt, and this also led archaeologists to believe that the child was not Christian.
The bones were sent to the Surgeons’ Hall in Birmingham, which took around five years to come to a conclusion. They concluded the skeleton belonged to a girl who had a severe parietal cranium fracture and they also found the child’s remains had been burnt and cremated, which contributed to the age of the child.
When the archaeologists made their final decision about the burial, they did not include a name on the grave, so the child became known as the ‘Forest of Dean child’, with a number of theories put forward as to what her name could be.
