Steps for Photoshop Use
The Photoshop installation page gives you the info on what’s included with the program. After you click through several screens and agree to the terms of use, you can download and begin the 30-day trial version. You can extend this trial period if you wish.
After you’ve downloaded and installed Photoshop, you get a Welcome window and a dialog box with a Welcome to Photoshop window.

Photoshop should open to this window. If you don’t see it, there are three ways to activate the program.

click the Photoshop menu bar > File > Open to open Photoshop.
If you get an error message, then you have Photoshop open but can’t access the program.

Import an image (File > Import)
Go to the Downloads folder and find the psd file you downloaded earlier (Make sure the folder isn’t open when opening the file). Double-click on the psd file.
You will see the name of your image. If the image is in the same directory as the program, you can import the file. If not, you need to change the path to the file. (
Configure the Adobe Photoshop Elements panel (preferences)
Go to the “Preferences” panel by clicking “Edit > Preferences”.

Import Photoshop brushes
– Go to File > Place to import new brush(s).
– Choose the type of brush you want from the list (or scroll through the list of brushes in the bottom right corner). Photoshop CS8 will offer you the choices ‘Photoshop Brush Pack 1’ or ‘Brushes For Photoshop CC’.

– In the top right corner of the brush palette, click on the icon “Export Brushes”.
– Select a path for your brush and click the box “OK”.
