SYX2MIDI is a small command line tool to convert.syx to.midi files.
The format of the output.midi file is based on sysex MIDI files sent from a keyboard or a software software solution.
The.midi file stores the settings for different performances. This allows to keep some settings
between performances.
SYX2MIDI also stores some sequencer information in the.midi file
The standard sysex commands are F0 – F7. F0 stores the global keyboard variables and F7
transmits 8.8 byte. Bytes 8 and 9 are used to store the settings and 3 bytes are reserved for
other uses. These bytes can be used for storing other data if needed. For example it’s possible
to store the current pitchbend state, volume or next gateroller buffer…
Use:
SYX2MIDI [options]
SYX2MIDI is easy to use. Just type:
SYX2MIDI [-t] syx dump file midi output file [options]
-t shows the current sysex commands
This will list all sysex commands. You can use -t option to get the next sysex command
after F7.
Sysex commands can be found for every key and for several synthesizer engines (CM, MPS, DS,..)
SYX2MIDI creates a.midi file in standard MIDI format which allows to import and export files in
software solutions or in MIDI editors.
It can also be used as a simple sysex dump transfert program. Simply type
SYX2MIDI [options].syx dump file (the format of the dump file is stored in the SYX2MIDI
configuration file), it will generate the.midi file with the settings of the current sysex commands.
SYX2MIDI can only read sysex data created with sysexdump programs and not from hardware
input, like instruments or oscillators. SYX2MIDI will not change sysex data. It will not
reorder, remove or delete any sysex command.
All options are explained in the next paragraph, you can use –help for
more information on the other options:

SYX2MIDI uses the first three octaves (2^3 = 8) of the s-player. In order to reach the player
you have to use the keys shown in the “Player” menu.
If your keyboard does not support direct data dump transfer, you can use the “setkey F7” command to send data. This is also demonstrated in the.syx file. With the s-player, you can use the “setkey F7” to send a direct data dump command. However, in some sysex dump programs, the s-player does not support the direct data dump transfer. In this case, you may use the whole keyboard. For example, if you use the t-key + s-player, you can use the keys ck f7 dk f7 bk f7 ae f7 ef f7 and f5 f7… all the f keys to send data.

SYX2MIDI is a command line utility that reads a.syx sysex file and saves it as a midi file.
SYX2MIDI operates in a very simple way: you just type SYX2MIDI followed by the name of the sysex file
