The line return *obj; is pretty much equivalent to returning an lvalue reference to the data pointer, but with a more relaxed syntax. It's not just comparable to std::cout, it's also comparable to any viable reference. As a consequence, it can break object slicing.
Lvalues are a valid data type, but in order to use it, it must be possible to bind it to a non-reference type. So, we can take advantage of this and avoid slicing by returning an object of type X by reference. The copy will be optimized away.
But of course, using an rvalue reference is much better, because it keeps the overall performance up and it reduces the risk of slicing and the overhead of a copy.

The Elden Ring has three main classes that are distinguished by one’s weapon type and the strength of their magic. The Ring have five different levels of classes as well as a type of evasion skill that varies from each of the clans. Each class has its own unique skill and attribute.
In addition to character classes, you can choose various magic types according to your playstyle. The skills to learn and the attribute to increase are determined by the class you select, and the amount of attribute points that can be invested in skills is determined by the weapon type.
There are a multitude of weapons to choose from, each with its own set of attributes. Some weapons can be upgraded through magic or weapon crafting. There are over 60 types of weapon and weapon accessories to choose from, and some weapons can be combined together.
