Mon, 12 Sep 2014 17:36:48 +0000It was December 2012, and none of us could have ever imagined the journey we were about to go through.
When we started making the game “Artsim”: An Open Source free 2D platformer, our goal was to create a game similar to “NOS”, a classic platformer that was released 20 years ago. We also wanted to create a game that made people think about all the parts of the process, from the idea to the finished product. We wanted to create something that would be accessible to everyone and meet all the basic quality standards that the old masters have left us.
As the development progressed, some of us quit our day jobs and started working for free. We didn’t have a lot of experience, but we managed to develop what we set out to achieve. We released version 0.6 of the game, and we realized that our work was worth something.
A fan-made team emerged, and started helping us improve the game, especially with the visual part. We started sharing our work and inviting the community in. We needed people with ideas and abilities to help us, we needed people to build on our concepts and help us polish our game. We grew in popularity and made a name for ourselves. We were invited to join the best indie developer meetup in Romania, and organized local tournaments that had tens of thousands of people tuning in.
We kept organizing tournaments and working on Artsim. Every weekend, the team would meet up and hack on the game and plan for the future. We’ve successfully raised money from different sources (including Google), we’ve gathered the talents of great musicians, artists, and designers and we

Cibele is a great game because of the minimalism. The game doesn’t rely on special features to keep you hooked. It really is just you, Alice, and your steam-punk-meets-steampunk-meets-emo-meets-punk-rebellion aesthetics and powerful imagination as you try and seduce an online, almost-real woman. And it’s so damn sexy.

In this discussion, the player is using the MakinTOS Editor and creating a terrain with layers of 6 height levels. Here are all the instructions, hints, credits and booklets that are required for creating a terrain in MZ. Any tips and ideas are welcome!
This is not a tutorial
This tutorial just describe one technique to create different terrains and create a mountain shape without creating any “object” which will more clearly classified with its height level. There are many powerful tools in MZ that can be used to create the same results. This is just a sample from the list of tools in this discussion. To learn this “pretty technique” requires several hours of tedious practice and experience.

This tutorial is pretty old from 2006. I’ve found it contains great information about Mountain Terrain which enable the user to create a hex based terrain. But the user will have to create the six maps. Each map must be of same size when the terrain will be actually formed.
This tutorial will help you making a terrain in the RPG Maker MZ. It talks about “first load”. If your terrain is about 5 meter tall. For you to see the layers of height you will have to rotate the image on 180 degree.

This tutorial creates not only terrain but also a huge castle. MZ’s terrain starts at the same height. The difference is that MZ’s terrain is angle based not pixel based. To create the hill shape a user must change the axis or angle. So, as it is angle based terrain, for you to see all the layers height you must rotate the image on 180 degrees.

Meridian is a isometric 3D action-adventure with RPG elements. It’s a story about a man called Donovan, who was brought up in a military family. The story begins a decade before the events of the game. As the story unfolds, Donovan will meet different friends and enemies, learn about his purpose on this planet, and make choices about how to live his life.
Storyline:
Donovan’s story begins many years ago, when he was just a young boy. In the military, Donovan grew up under the harsh school regulations of his father, his uncle, and other officers. At night, he often used to lie awake, listening to his mother’s secret nighttime conversations, and later, he would secretly sneak out of his room to listen more closely. One night he overheard his mother’s conversation with a man whom she called “the Lord”. Donovan did not fully understand what was going on, but he knew something was up. Eventually, his father caught him out of the bedroom, severely punishing him for his disloyalty.
As his mother explained to him that “one day you will understand the meaning of your life”, his life in the military became unbearable, and he was sent to another school. Donovan got along with his new school friends quite well, who weren’t aware that he was secretly listening to his mother’s secret conversations, especially when he was around his friend, Grayson. However, Grayson’s parents didn’t approve of Donovan’s friendship with a ‘dumb’ boy like Grayson, who had a rep for being ‘queer’.
About 3 years later, Donovan’s father, who was very patriotic, encouraged him to become a pilot. After several rough training sessions, Donovan was allowed to pilot a combat flight. One day, while Donovan was flying a jet, he saw a strange object in the horizon. It was a shattered city, a city which no one knew anything about. Donovan tried to get closer to the city and did manage to get a hold of an old map, with the help of a local man who was a friend of his father. However, the city was a mystery to everyone, and everyone seemed to be afraid of the city.
